Quickie Beauty Review February 10, 2007

I’ve decided to post my quickie beauty review, unfortunately I won’t be able to podcast this episode due to time and technology constraints but I’d still like to get the info out.

Revlon’s EyeGlide eyeshadow is a nice cream eyeshadow in an easy to use pen that you twist to get the shadow out. It makes getting made up without brushes easy. I usually keep the Champagne, Nude and Bronze Eyeglides in my bag, particularly if I’m in a rush in the morning and I know I’ll want to dab something on before a lunch date. These three colors work well together to give a natural but well defined eye look without too much effort and these cream shadows are very simple to blend even if you are inexperienced when it comes to makeup.

Pearl is a good all over and highlight (under brow) color while Bronze can be used in the crease and outer corner. The Nude shade is an inbetween shade and can be applied to the lid area.

Mocha, Sandstone and Bronze are good for darker skintones to acheive the same natural effect. Sandstone is a good allover color and underbrow highlight, Bronze can be used on the lid area and Mocha (the darkest shade) can be used in the crease and outer corners of eyes.

Since the Eyeglide is a cream eyeshadow, if you have very oily skin , it is not the product for you. Also, even on normal or dry skin, you may need to smooth out some minor creases in the crease of the eyelid after about 3 or 4 hours but it takes two seconds and since the initial application was so simple, it’s not difficult to do.

Each pen contains 0.064 fl oz which is not a lot and each pen costs about $7-$8 at drugstores so the Eyeglide is more of a convenience product than an everyday item. And the colors won’t look dramatic so they are best for creating a daytime look.

So here are the pros and cons:

Cons: high price considering how much product you are getting, won’t work well on very oily skin, won’t last all day without a couple checks in the mirror and the colors are not super intense. So if you’ve been eyeing the Sky, Lilac or Jade EyeGlides, know that they are very pale, pastels and will give you more shimmer than color.

Pros: easy application, minimal mess, totally portable, flattering natural colors and great blending ability

You can find the Revlon EyeGlide at your local drugstore , Walmart, Target or KMart. Keep an eye out for a sale and pick one up when there’s a buy one get one half off or free promotion.
